'Heart" in the language of the Bible and of the early Christian tradition is not simply the physical organ but rather the spiritual centre of man's being as a body-soul-spirit entity, "his inner shrine, to be entered only through sacrifice and death, in which the mystery of the union between the divine and the human is consummated" (The Pilokalia, Volume One, p. 361).
Through the opened side of Jesus we have access to the "inner shrine of Jesus," to "the sanctuary" (Hebrews 10:19-22), approaching with confidence the "throne of grace and mercy" (Hebrews 4:16).
Veneration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus leads us to the very heart of praying with our Blessed Lady and her love overflows into our hearts as we make reparation and expiation for the sins committed against the Sacred Heart of Jesus and against the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The request of Our Lady of Fatima renewed.
