When we are meditating on the sufferings of Jesus, we learn to see our own troubles and tribulations in a different light, and if we consider how much our Blessed Mother must have suffered seeing her Son so terribly tortured, we shall be more prepared to accept our little crosses. Jesus reminded His followers to expect trials (Matthew 10:17-25). The faithful at Medjugorje have experienced many trials, even at the hand of their own bishop. You too must be prepared for being ridiculed about your devotion to Our Lady, or about your positive response to Medjugorje.
But what can we make of the words of Our Lady 'Consider how the Almighty is still suffering on account of your sins?' Can the Almighty, Eternal God suffer? The Mystery of the Incarnation is a great mystery indeed and only humble faith can accept the truth that the suffering of our Redeemer is the suffering of the Father as well (Cf. John 10:30; 14:8-11). Rejected love may mean greater suffering than physical pain. And the redeeming sacrifice of Jesus, His atonement for our sins, renewed daily on our altars, through sacramental signs, will go on until the end of time. Once again, the message of Our Lady helps us towards a deeper appreciation of the Holy Mass, and to make it quite plain to everyone, on the next day, 30 March 1984, she communicated this in her message through Jelena Vasilj (see Week 6 - 3 April 2014).
