SPIRITUAL EXCERCISES & RSV BIBLE EXTRACTS - WEEK 132
STARTS THURSDAY 5th AUGUST 2010
THE FRUITS OF “MARIAN HOLINESS OF LIFE”
Weekly message No. 127 (31st July 1986).
7. Bringing harmony and peace everywhere by love.
“Dear children! Hatred gives birth to dissensions and does not regard anyone or anything. I call you always to bring harmony and peace. Especially, dear children, in the place where you live, act with love. Let your only instrument always be love. By love turn everything into good which Satan desires to destroy and possess. Only that way shall you be completely mine and I shall be able to help you. Thank you for having responded to my call.”
PRACTICAL:
Whatever you do this week for other people, do it out of love for God.
Matthew 5:7-12.
7“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. 8Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. 9Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. 10Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
Friday: “Hatred provokes disputes, but love excuses all offences.”
Proverbs 10:12.
12Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offences.
Friday: Cf. Proverbs 17:9.
9He who forgives an offence seeks love, but he who repeats a matter alienates a friend.
Saturday: Preserving love for each other “since love covers over many a sin.”
1 Peter 4:8-10.
8Above all hold unfailing your love for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins. 9Practice hospitality ungrudgingly to one another. 10As each has received a gift; employ it for one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”
Saturday: Cf. Tobit 12:9.
9For almsgiving delivers from death, and it will purge away every sin. Those who perform deeds of charity and of righteousness will have fullness of life.
Saturday: Cf. James 5:20.
20Let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.
Sunday: Supporting each other in love and preserving the unity of the Spirit.
Ephesians 4:2-4.
2With all lowliness and meekness, with patience, forbearing one another in love, 3eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call.
Sunday: Cf. Ephesians 4:15-16.
15Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every joint with which it is supplied, when each part is working properly, makes bodily growth and up builds itself in love.
Colossians 3:12-15.
12Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience, 13forbearing one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful.
Monday: Cf. Ephesians 4:32.
32And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
Tuesday: The perfect love.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
4Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; 5it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. 7Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Wednesday: Love can transform everything into something good
Romans 8:28.
28We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose.
