THE POWER OF ‘MARIAN HOLINESS OF LIFE’

(A) CALLED TO BECOME CO-WORKERS OF OUR LADY

Weekly message No. 131 (28th August 1986).
Helping Our Lady by being her co-workers.

“Dear children! My call is that in everything you would be an image for others, especially in prayer and witnessing. Dear children, without you I am not able to help the world. I desire that you cooperate with me in everything, even in the smallest things. Therefore, dear children, help me by letting your prayer be from the heart and all of you surrendering completely to me. That way I shall be able to teach and lead you on this way which I have begun with you. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

PRACTICAL:
This week offer all your trials and difficulties for Our Lady’s intentions.

Thursday: Purity and fidelity in marriage.

Matthew 5:27-32.
27“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28But I say to you that every one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. 30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell. 31It was also said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’32 But I say to you that every one who divorces his wife, except on the ground of unchastity, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.”

Friday: Brotherly love as sign of recognition for being Christ’s disciple.

John 13:35.
35By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

Cf. John 13:15.
15For I have given you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.

Saturday: Being an example to others by our Christian behaviour.

1 Timothy 4:12.
12Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

Cf. Titus 2:7-8.
7Show yourself in all respects a model of good deeds, and in your teaching show integrity, gravity, 8and sound speech that cannot be censured, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say of us.

Sunday: Being God’s fellow-workers.

2 Corinthians 6:1.
1Working together with him, then, we entreat you not to accept the grace of God in vain.

9For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God's field, God’s building.

Monday: Saint Paul asks for the prayers of the Christians at Ephesus to help him in his mission.

Ephesians 6:18-20.
18Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19and also for me, that utterance may be given me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20for which I am an ambassador in chains; that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.

11You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us in answer to many prayers.

Tuesday: The gift of the Holy Spirit is promised by Jesus to enable us to witness to him.

Acts 1:8.
8But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth.

Wednesday: By listening to Our Lady (‘Seat of Wisdom’) we shall find life.

Proverbs 8:32-36.
32And now, my sons, listen to me: happy are those who keep my ways. 33 Hear instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it. 34Happy is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors. 35For he who finds me finds life and obtains favour from the LORD; 36but he who misses me injures himself; all who hate me love death.
