SPIRITUAL EXCERCISES & RSV BIBLE EXTRACTS - WEEK 145
STARTS THURSDAY 4th NOVEMBER 2010
THE POWER OF ‘MARIAN HOLINESS OF LIFE’
(B) HOW TO GROW AS CO-WORKERS OF OUR LADY
Weekly message No. 140 (30th October 1986).
Living the messages out of love for Our Lady.
“Dear children! Today again I desire to call you to take seriously and carry out the messages which I am giving you. Dear children, it is for your sake that I have stayed this long so I could help you to fulfil all the messages which I am giving you. Therefore, dear children, out of love for me carry out all the messages which I am giving you. Thank you for having responded to my call."
PRACTICAL:
Make an examination of conscience during this week: whether you are totally committed to live by the messages of Our Lady
(Seeing Her messages as the messages of the Gospel).
Thursday: The eye, the lamp of the body.
Matthew 6:22-23.
22The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light; 23but if your eye is not sound, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
Thursday: Cf. Luke 11:33-35.
33No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or under a bushel, but on a stand, that those who enter may see the light. 34Your eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye is sound, your whole body is full of light; but when it is not sound, your body is full of darkness. 35Therefore be careful lest the light in you be darkness.
Friday: The Word of Christ finding a home with us.
Colossians 3:16.
16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Saturday: Jesus explains the parable of the sower.
Matthew 13:18-23.
18“Hear then the parable of the sower. 19When any one hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what is sown in his heart; this is what was sown along the path. 20As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away. 22As for what was sown among thorns, this is he who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the delight in riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. 23As for what was sown on good soil, this is he who hears the word and understands it; he indeed bears fruit, and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.”
Sunday: Taking to heart the message we have heard.
Hebrews 2:1-4.
1Therefore we must pay the closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. 2For if the message declared by angels was valid and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, 3how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard him, 4while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his own will.
Sunday: Cf. 2 Peter 3:17.
17You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, beware lest you be carried away with the error of lawless men and lose your own stability.
Monday: “Let what you heard in the beginning remain in you …”
1 John 2:24.
24Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you will abide in the Son and in the Father.
Monday: Cf. l John 1:5-7.
5This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all. 6If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not live according to the truth; 7but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
Tuesday: Believing the message with the heart.
Romans 10:8-10.
8But what does it say? The word is near you, on your lips and in your heart (that is, the word of faith which we preach); 9because, if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For man believes with his heart and so is justified, and he confesses with his lips and so is saved.
Wednesday:
The words of Jesus are the word; of the Father.
John 12:49-50.
49For I have not spoken on my own authority; the Father who sent me has himself given me commandment what to say and what to speak. 50And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has bidden me.
Wednesday: Cf. John 6:45.
45It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Every one who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me.
