DAILY SPIRITUAL EXERCISES STARTING THURSDAY, 19 JUNE 2008
1st day: Matthew 6:25-32. (Thursday)
Trust in God’s providence.
2nd day: Luke 18:1-8. (Friday)
Jesus speaks of the need for unceasing prayer.
Cf. Luke 21:36.
3rd day: Acts 1:12-14. (Saturday)
Our Lady, together with the apostles and disciples, is praying unceasingly for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
Cf. Acts 12:5.
4th day: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24. (Sunday)
Special aspects of the unceasing prayer are: Joy, thanksgiving, openness to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit, discernment, sanctification of the whole person (mind-body-spirit).

5th day: Romans 12:9-16. (Monday)
Unceasing prayer cannot be separated from the habitual charity towards other people, from fighting the evil and loving our enemy.
6th day: Colossians 4:2-4. (Tuesday)
Unceasing prayer (contemplative life) is concerned with spreading the Good News.
7th day: Ephesians 6:18-19. (Wednesday)
Praying in the Holy Spirit is the secret of unceasing prayer which is one of the powerful means in our spiritual warfare to overcome the Evil One.
