Prayer with the heart

“Dear children! Pray, because Satan wishes to complicate my plans still further. Pray with the heart and surrender yourselves to Jesus in prayer."

DAILY SPIRITUAL EXERCISES STARTING THURSDAY, 7 AUGUST 2014

1st day: Matthew 7:21-23. (Thursday)
The true disciple.

2nd day: Ephesians 6:18. (Friday)
Praying in the Spirit on every possible occasion.
CF. Jude 20-23.

3rd day: Ephesians 5:18-20. (Saturday)
Praising God in the name of Jesus is a beautiful way of 'praying with the heart.' Cf. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.

4th day: Romans 12:8-13. (Sunday)
Constant prayer together with loving service to our fellow-men.

5th day: James 4:6-10. (Monday)
When we come closer to God (through prayer, 'longing of the spirit') Satan will run away from us. Cf. 1 Peter 5:6-11.

6th day: Colossians 4:2-4. (Tuesday)
'Prayer with the heart' includes perseverance in prayer and thankfulness.

7th day: St. Paul's example of praying continually with heart: (Wed) Colossians 1:3-5; Romans 1:8-9; Philemon 4-7.

SUGGESTION

This week, following Colossians 3:15-17, "what ever we say or do, be in the name of Jesus in thanksgiving to God the Father."
