YEAR 2: GROWING IN THE LIFE OF PRAYER AND LOVE
MAKING PROGRESS IN THE LIFE OF PRAYER AND LOVE
(C) OPEN YOUR HEARTS TO GOD THROUGH THE “PRAYER OF THE HEART”
Weekly message No. 65 (23rd May 1985).
Fifth step: Surrendering our lives to Jesus.
“Dear children! These days I call you especially to open your hearts to the Holy Spirit. Especially during these days the Holy Spirit is working through you. Open your hearts and surrender your life to Jesus so that He works through your hearts and strengthens you in faith. Thank you for having responded to my call.”
SPIRITUAL EXCERCISES - WEEK 65
STARTS THURSDAY 21st MAY 2015
Thursday: The eye, the lamp of the body.
Matthew 6:22-23
The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light; but if your eye is not sound, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
Cf. Luke 11:34-35
Your eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye is sound, your whole body is full of light; but when it is not sound, your body is full of darkness. Therefore be careful lest the light in you be darkness.
Friday: Acknowledging Jesus as Lord is a gift of the Holy Spirit
1 Corinthians 12:3
Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking by the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus be cursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except by the Holy Spirit.
Cf. John 14:26
But the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
Saturday: Testing the spirits.
1 John 4:1-3
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are of God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit which confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit which does not confess Jesus is not of God. This is the spirit of antichrist, of which you heard that it was coming, and now it is in the world already.
Cf. 1 Thessalonians 5:19
Do not quench the Spirit.
Sunday: Offering of self as a living sacrifice to God.
Romans 12:1-2
I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Cf. Ephesians 5:1-2
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Cf. 1 Peter 2:5
And like living stones be yourselves built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Monday: Living the life of Christ in faith.
Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Cf. Colossians 3:3-4
For you have died, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Tuesday: Life with Jesus in the Holy Spirit.
Romans 8:10-11
But if Christ is in you, although your bodies are dead because of sin, your spirits are alive because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit which dwells in you.
Cf. John 8:12
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Wednesday: Baptised with the Holy Spirit to become witnesses for Jesus.
Acts 1:5
For John baptized with water, but before many days you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.
Cf. Matthew 3:11
I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
SUGGESTION:
Renewal of Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
